Images from World War II: The Art of Jack Smith | By Rona Simmons
A collection of thirty-six brush and ink drawings from WWII veteran and commercial artist Jack Smith. Each of the stark, black and white line drawings capture the essence of the war in the Pacific, the terrain, the ships, the men. All were drawn from iconic photographs captured by professional and amateur photographers and journalists who witnessed the fighting firsthand.
Rona Simmons added the narrative accompanying each image. Together, Mr. Smith and Ms. Simmons hope to bring broader distribution of the remarkably detailed paintings and to encourage readers to deepen their understanding of the war.
