Local Creativity on Display!
This year, as part of the 2016 Milton Literary Festival, local students from Cambridge and Milton High Schools will have the opportunity to participate in a community literary activity by producing written and graphic Six Word Book Reports. The work will be based on novels they have studied in class. You'll be able to check out their work on display on Saturday, November 12th, at the new Milton Public Library!
Characters & Costumes
Students will lead children through creative writing and illustrating exercises, along with costume play based on the children's book featured at this year's festival. We're especially excited to feature local Children's Book author Sara Sutton, a Cambridge High School student!
The Family Book Trail
Nestled underneath the beautiful oaks behind the new Milton Library, young readers will find a delightful Family Book Trail, featuring one of our Children's Book authors from this year's festival. Families are invited to follow the trail and read the book along the way. There's a surprise at the end - have your Face Painted by a Children's Charity Inc volunteer!
Read to a Therapy Dog
This year we are lucky to have partnered with CAREing Paws for a special event! Young Readers can sign up to have their chance to Read to a Therapy Dog!
Writing for Teens
Students are welcome at all our author panels and workshops, but this year we are offering a workshop specifically about the craft of writing for teens, led by Young Adult author Gina Ciocca, a local Milton resident!
The Book Club Hookup
Students in Retro Costume will act as hostesses for genre book clubs at our Book Club Hookup event! You can learn more here.
